Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. has been dedicated to providing service to the community through a variety of programs for over 100 years.  Over the years, Pi Lambda Omega chapter has been active in the community in various ways, including:  assisting with educating youth on school subjects and life skills; educating the community on health issues; assisting underprivileged families with basic needs and recognizing accomplishments in the arts.  

The International Program theme for 2007 - 2010 is "The Heart of ESP: An Extraordinary Service Program".  This program focuses primarily on educating the community on economics, with a goal of developing economically empowered individuals who will have an understanding of how to be successful in our ever-changing, global-economic world.  The international alumni chapter program involves the following platforms: 

•  Non-Traditional Entrepreneur
  Economic Keys to Success
•  Economic Growth of the Black Family
•  Health Resource Management and Economics

Pi Lambda Omega develops a Program Calendar (calendar of events) each year which includes the service projects that adhere to national program platforms and other community service projects.  Below you will see some of the ways in which Pi Lambda Omega has implemented programs which serve our local community.

  Scholarships

Each year, Pi Lambda Omega Chapter, in conjunction with the Derby City Tea Rose Foundation, awards scholarships to deserving high school seniors who currently reside in Metro Louisville and who will be attending college the fall semester following graduation.  Scholarship applications are currently being accepted.  Students interested in applying for a scholarship may download the scholarship application here.  Applications must be postmarked by
March 20, 2010 to be considered for award.                Pi Lambda Omega and the Derby City Tea Rose Foundation would like to wish all scholarship applicants success in reaching their goals and potentials.

    Habitat for Humanity                                                       ESP Kids Club

Pi Lambda Omega members participate in local Habitat for Humanity projects annually.

Pi Lambda Omega partners with the Alpha Lambda chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. to conduct the "Go to High School, Go to College" program, which includes a series of workshops which educate youth about life and economic skills.

Pi Lambda Omega hosts and participates in a series of programs annually to raise the level of health awareness within our community, while also focusing on the continued mental, physical, emotional and spiritual health of its members.

Pi Lambda Omega continues to work in conjunction
with various community service organizations to co-host events such as the Community
Health and Economic Fair.

"Women of Vision" Entrepreneurial Series                  First Responders Program

Pi Lambda Omega has created an entrepreneurial series known as Women of Vision geared to help mentor aspiring women entrepreneurs.

Pi Lambda Omega conducts the First Responders Program, which is designed to educate the youth of the community about first aid and safety.
